Learning Resources | Participants are advised to have a yoga or exercise mat for class and to wear comfortable clothing. | |
Instruction Method | Although the majority of the course will take place online, this course is highly experiential. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions. An in-person, 7-hour retreat will take place at our New Westminster campus (see Class Dates below). | |
Assignments | Home practice optimizes the benefits of mindfulness practice. | |
Grading | This course is assessed on a Mastery/Non-mastery basis. | |

Course Instructor | Tom Heah (he/him) has taught Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2006. He is a trainer and mentor for MBSR teachers-in-training at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. He works as an occupational therapist in mental health with Vancouver Coastal Health. He is certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy through the UCSD Center for Mindfulness and is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Tom has a M.Sc. in Occupational Therapy and is a Registered Occupational Therapist in BC. | |
